Base Access

ALL ATTENDEES WHO DO NOT HAVE CACS MUST BE PRE-VETTED FOR BASE ACCESS EVEN IF YOU ARE RIDING THE NFCS BUS. If you do not have a CAC, please click on This Link no later than 12 January, to submit the information we need to get you pre-vetted.

Hale Ikena/Ft. Shafter Base Access

All NFCS attendees fall into one of four categories below. Please carefully read and follow the instructions that apply to you. This will allow for a quicker and smoother access to the Hale Ikena each day during NFCS.

  1. NFCS Bus Rider Base Access
    • Process: Show your NFCS bus pass to the NFCS bussing monitor to get on the bus. Bus will pass through the gate after a quick check with the bussing monitor.
    • You must have with you:
      • NFCS Bus Pass (if you have not checked in and received your NFCS bus pass yet, you will be checked off on the NFCS bussing roster on your first bus ride over)
      • NFCS Badge (if you have not checked in and received your badge yet, you will be checked off on the NFCS bussing roster on your first bus ride over)
      • Government Issued Photo ID
    • Please note: Bus passes must be purchased in advance via your NFCS registration. Cost is $80.
  2. Car Access for Government/Military CAC holders

    Please note: The following CACs fall in this category Active Duty, (DoD, Dept. of Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps), Teslin (Dependent Card), Retiree (US Armed Forces), Reservist, and National Guard CAC PIV Card (Usually carried by Federal Officers "ie" FBI etc. (Allow at least 15 - 20 minutes for base access, could be longer depending on time of day)

    • Process:
      • Show your CAC at the gate where you will be waived on. You have escort privileges and may escort other non-CAC holders or non-Gov/Non-Military CAC holders in your vehicle. All will have to show ID. The non-CAC holders in your car will have to be checked off of Ft. Shafter's Master List of NFCS pre-vetted attendees.
    • It is a good idea to have with you:
      • Driver's License
      • Proof of Insurance
      • Safety Check Form (be sure to get this with your rental car)
      • Car registration or rental car agreement
  3. Car Access for CAC holders that are Non-Government/Non-Military

    (Allow at least 15 - 20 minutes for base access, could be longer depending on time of day)

    • Process:
      • Show your CAC at the gate where you will be waived on. You do not have escort privileges and other non-CAC holders or non-Gov/Non-Military CAC holders in your vehicle must show ID. Non-CAC holders in your car additionally have to be checked off of Ft. Shafter's Master List of NFCS pre-vetted attendees.
    • It is a good idea to have with you:
      • Driver's License
      • Proof of Insurance
      • Safety Check Form (be sure to get this with your rental car)
      • Car registration or rental car agreement
  4. Car Access for Attendees without CACs

    (Allow at least 15 - 20 minutes for base access, could be longer depending on time of day)

    • Process:
      • You must submit your driver's license, DOB, and State Issuing DL by 12 January for advance vetting. To submit your information, Click Here
      • Show your driver's license at gate where you will be checked off a master NFCS attendee's list. If there are long lines, you may be asked to pull ahead to another area for this quick check.
    • It is a good idea to have with you:
      • Driver's License
      • Proof of Insurance
      • Safety Check Form (be sure to get this with your rental car)
      • Car registration or rental car agreement
